*Dusts Cobwebs*

Wed Apr 22, 2009, 9:43 AM
Why am I dusting so many stuffs again? Lol. I guess I haven't touched my DA in a bit -_- Kinda miss it =X Just got my DSLR on the condition that Dear FX-8 konked out on me. It was a jolly good fellow.

*One minute of silence for the defunct PNS*

I want a new PNS =.=''' It's seriously kinda weird getting used to carrying a DSLR around instead of something light and compact >.> And I do kinda miss the clarity of a regular PNS. Ah well, time to move on to bigger (and heavier T_T) things.

Shooting human models is pretty much a refreshing start for me. It's rather interesting to see how best to bring out the best in one's appearances. The result's kind of pleasant when you find that you can take photos that make a person look much better than they do in real. Perhaps a change of perspective could make someone you once deem as an ugly duckling a pretty swan after. Granted, most normal folk don't have the power to look their 100% best all the time, but it's nice to be able to frame that perfect moment when they're looking so ethereal and perfect and it makes you wonder if you're actually snapping a photo of someone you've known for years.

I never really liked photographing human models much. Their emotions change waaaayyy too quickly - even if it's posed, some perfect expressions get lost and you don't see it again unless you somehow miraculously provoke that brief emotion from them. Reminds me somehow of how a friend of mine treasures a photo of himself taken by a friend just before he screams the word "F**K". The moment lasts for a little while, but the effects could range anywhere from humourous to downright emo. It's hard getting those shots, but it's fun... The part that I really don't really like getting is permission, which makes me not take any at all. I know there's a media law out there that allows anyone's pictures to be taken in public - as long as you're in a public place, whatever actions you do are made public and thus photographs of you may be taken regardless of whether or not you like it. I really hate people who snap my pictures without my permission and I find it quite an invasion of privacy, so I wouldn't wish it on others when I could avoid it (hell forbid that I enter a line of work that requires me to do that).

A friend of mine asked me recently why I bother going to shoots and stuff - it tires me out and it doesn't give me any obvious benefits, so why?

I find that shoots help me grow as an individual. It allows me to know how professional I could act in any given scenario - sort of a way for me to practice my craft as well as know how good I am and where I stand. I get to meet interesting people - I meet friends. Granted, I do meet a fair share of unreasonable people, but I learn to work with them or around them (I prefer to run around them as far as I possibly could). At the end of the day it's a passion, it cultivates dreaming and inspiration of sorts, so I guess it's worth a shot.

*.* For now, I'll just enjoy my art as far as I could... I do hope that someday my words or pictures could end up inspiring someone, someway. Someday ^^,
